How to Root Galaxy S4 (LTE+) I9506 on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Install CWM Recovery

Samsung Galaxy S4 (LTE+) I9506 users who wish to root and install ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery on their devices, may follow our step-by-step guide.

This tutorial uses CWM recovery released by XDA-Developers member, dridri85. The CWM recovery allows Galaxy S4 users to root their devices easily. This method completely supports Samsung Galaxy S4 with LTE+ (GT-I9506).

Pre-Requisites
1. Install USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy S4 on your computer.
2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone by navigating to Settings >> Developer Options.
3. Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.
4. The Galaxy S4 should be factory unlocked and not locked to any particular carrier.
5. Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 percent.
6. The CWM recovery works only on the LTE+ version of Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9506). Applying this on any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy S4 by selecting Settings >> About Phone.

Files Required
1. Custom Recovery (choose either one):

CWM (Mirror Link) (CWM_6.0.4.6_Non-Touch_GT-I9506.tar)
PhilZ Touch (Mirror Link) (Philz_Touch__CWM_6.3.7_V5.15.0_unofficial_(fixed_p reload).tar)

2. Root Package (Mirror Link) (ROOT_E330S_I9506_v2.zip)
3. Odin 3.07

Steps to Install CWM Recovery on Galaxy S4 (LTE+) I9506
Step 1: Extract the Odin 3.07 .zip file using WinRAR/7-Zip/WinZip or any other extracting tool.
Step 2: Copy the Root Package .zip file to the SD card of your phone.
Step 3: Switch off the Galaxy S4. Then boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 4: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 5: Connect the Galaxy S4 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn to light blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.
Step 6: In Odin, click the PDA button and select the CWM/PhilZ Touch.tar file. Verify that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option is NOT selected.
Step 7: Double-check and click Start button in Odin. The installation process will now begin.
Step 8: Once the installation process completes, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect it from the computer.

Steps to Root Galaxy S4 (LTE+) I9506 via CWM Recovery
Step 9: Boot the device into CWM recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together.
Step 10: In CWM recovery, select "install zip from sdcard" and then select "choose zip from sdcard". Now, navigate to the Root Package .zip file that you copied earlier and confirm the installation by selecting Yes.
Step 11: Once the installation process completes, return to main recovery menu and select "reboot system now".

Samsung Galaxy S4 (LTE+) I9506 running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is now rooted successfully. You can now install any app that requires root permission. Verify the root status of the device by downloading Root Checker app from Google Play Store.

Note: Many Samsung devices store a flash counter that keeps track of how many times you have flashed custom firmwares to your device. Triangle Away can be used to reset the flash counter to zero.

How to Fix "Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped"?
Step 1: Download and install the latest APK of SuperSU on your device.
Step 2: Open SuperSU app (update the binary if prompted) and allow it to disable KNOX.
Step 3: Reboot your device.

Je fais ce tutoriel suite à la lecture de nombreux posts et constatant que certains n'y parviennent pas !

Note : Le fait de suivre ce tutoriel fera passer votre compteur Knox à 0x1.

Dans ce tutoriel je vous parle de supprimer Knox ; il s'agit du logiciel de sécurité intégré aux i9506 en 4.3 Orange par défaut.


Pré-requis :

1. Avoir installé les drivers/pilotes de votre téléphone -->> Drivers
2. Avoir téléchargé et décompressé le fichier -->> Odin185.zip
3. Téléchargé le recovery de vôtre choix :
- CWM
- Philztouch
4. Téléchargé le fichier de ROOT
5. Téléchargé le fichier pour supprimer KNOX

Assurez vous d'avoir une batterie chargée (75% mini)

Procédure d'installation :

1. Installez les drivers téléchargés précédemment & redémarrez vôtre PC.

2. Copiez sur vôtre carte SD les fichiers :
- ROOT_E330S_I9506
- DE-SAMSUNGNIZER_KNOX_REMOVAL_SCRIPT_V1.0.zip

3. Eteignez votre téléphone.

4. Appuyez simultanément sur les touches : Volume Bas + Home + Power. Jusqu'à l'apparition d'une demande pour rentrer en mode Download. Appuyez sur Volume Haut pour lancer le mode Download.

5. Sur votre ordinateur, lancez Odin v1.85 en mode administrateur (clic droit sur Odin et lancer en mode administrateur)

6. Connectez votre mobile à votre ordinateur via le câble USB ; si l'un des ports de vôtre PC est en USB 3.0 ne l'utilisez pas. Dans ODIN, la case sous ID :COM passe en JAUNE preuve que que votre mobile est correctement détecté.

7. Cliquez sur PDA puis sélectionnez le recovery de vôtre choix.

8. Vérifiez que seules les cases Auto Reboot et F. Reset Time sont cochées.

9. Appuyez sur Start et soyez près à maintenir appuyé le bouton Volume Haut au moment du redémarrage.


VOUS ÊTES EN MODE RECOVERY

10. Ensuite, sélectionnez Install Zip dans le menu Recovery.

11. Puis, sélectionnez Choose zip from external sdcard.

12. Choisissez le fichier ROOT_E330S_I9506_zip et validez sur Yes. Patientez pendant l'installation.

13. Appuyez sur la touche de retour

14. Ensuite, sélectionnez Install Zip dans le menu Recovery.

15. Puis, sélectionnez Choose zip from external sdcard.

16. Choisissez le fichier DE-SAMSUNGNIZER_KNOX_REMOVAL_SCRIPT_V1.0.zip et validez sur Yes. Patientez pendant l'installation.

17. Sélectionnez Reboot System Now.

18. Un choix peut vous être demandé sélectionnez Yes - Fix root (/system/xbin/su)


Votre mobile va redémarrer. Soyez patient au premier redémarrage.

19. Dans vos applications ouvrez SuperSU : Le message suivant va s'afficher "Le binaire SU a besoin d'être mis à jour. Continuer ?" Appuyez sur Continuer puis sur TWRP/CWM puis OK.


Votre mobile va redémarrer en recovery puis se redémarrer par lui même en mode "Normal". Vous êtes rooté !
