Samsung unveiled the next iteration of its flagship series dubbed Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on Sunday. These devices have been receiving rave preliminary reviews from reviewers and tech enthusiasts alike. However, thanks to the fragmentation issues, the Android 6.0.1. Marshmallow update for the predecessors Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge has been rolling out across the globe in snail’s pace.
Last week, the South Korean tech giant announced that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge series is going to start soon. However, as it turns out, the devices are starting to receive the firmware only now, Sam Mobile reported.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6, tied to the model number “SM-G920F,” and Galaxy S6 Edge with the model number “SM-G925F” are reportedly receiving the Android 6.0.1 in the U.K. under the Vodafone network. The build number of this firmware update is “XXU3DPB8.” This software package is expected to be rolled out to device users under other carriers shortly. Following which, the regular unlocked Galaxy S6 series will also receive the update.
Readers can expect the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to pop up on their handsets as a notification in a couple of days, as the roll outs are usually made in phases. In case there is no notification, users can navigate to device Settings -> About device -> and check the Software updates menu. The other way is to manually get the software update via Sam Mobile’s firmware section.
Speaking of key Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow features, this firmware brings in an enhanced visual design, a new version of browser, Doze to save battery life, Google Now on Tap, Cross App functionality in built-in apps and improved app permission control.
